Conference Literature and empire in Vilnius, 11-13 October 2023

On 11-13 October 2023, 14th Conference of Baltic Literary Scholars Literature and empire will be held in Vilnius, where our project will participate with three presentations. Aare Pilv will analyse the Soviet propaganda poetry by J. Barbarus and J. Semper during World War II and their journey from their initial decadent moods to that point. Mirjam Hinrikus and Merlin Kirikal will analyse the critique of war in the texts by A. H. Tammsaare and J. Semper, examining how their decadent tone and attitudes have carried a pacifist meaning. The programme of the conference and the theses.
