On 31 May 2024, the article “A short guide to bird jam” by Elle-Mari Talivee, the senior researcher at the Literature Centre, was published in the cultural newspaper Sirp.

One of the goals of the bird jam, organised in Tartu for the fifth year, is to pay attention to birds and urban nature, to value the biodiversity of urban life and to articulate this experience through poetry and music. City birds are an important indicator, they are barometers of the state of nature and thus of the well-being of urban nature: a city where many bird species want to live is also a good environment for humans. The article published in Sirp opens up the background of the species represented at the 2024 Bird jam on the one hand ornithologically, and on the other culturally. The Estonian bird of the year, the cuckoo, is also among the species.
