Researchers’ night of birds, poetry and science
On 30 September 2022, a science luncheon „Birds, Poetry and Science“ was held as part of the Researchers’ Night festival at the Estonian Academy of Sciences. Elle-Mari Talivee, a senior researcher at the Under and Tuglas Literature Centre, spoke about a pan-European environmental awareness project that explores the role of citizen science. Urmas Talivee, a teacher of the ornithology class at the Zoo’s nature education centre, gave a presentation together with his students about children’s bird watching hobby education. Poet Veronika Kivisilla spoke about bird songs in folklore and also imitated them. Ornithologist Aarne Tuule talked about Estonian eagles and the activities of the eagle club. The event was chaired by Marti Aavik and supported by the Horizon 2020 project Envirocitizen – Citizen Science for Environmental Citizenship.
