Spanish landscape painting and Tuglas’ Spain in Kadriorg Art Museum
The exhibition “España Blanca y Negra: Vision of Spain, from Fortuny to Picasso” at the Kadriorg Art Museum brought together evocative romantic Spanish views and central works by the great masters of modernism. Lively and sunny or bleak and tragic, the white and black of Spain’s essence are revealed through brilliant works of art. Come to the closing event of the exhibition to discover a piece of Spanish culture!
The finissage programme on 24 August 2024 includes a (semi-)abstract landscape painting workshop, a playful family programme and guided tours of the exhibition. At 15.00 a special tour “Spanish landscape painting and Estonian travel literature” will take place. The art historian Kerttu Männiste’s tour of the exhibition introduces Spanish landscape painting, including excerpts from the Estonian writer Friedebert Tuglas’s book Teekond Hispaania (Journey to Spain). It has been claimed that after Tuglas’ travelogue, it is no longer possible to write in Estonian about Spain without mentioning him.
