Congratulations!
The short stories can be read HERE.
The jury consisted of Maria Esko (chairman), Mart Kangur, Eva Koff, Kruusa Kalju, Tiina Laanem and Indrek Mesikepp.
According to the jury, the texts that received the award stood out for their excellent use of language and composition. In addition, both authors impressed the jury with their ability to reveal human nature in its imperfection and vulnerability, but at the same time find strength in it, space for the multiplicity and simultaneity of contradictory truths. A longer overview of the jury’s results can be read on the website of the Estonian Writers’ Union.
The short story award, which is being awarded for the 55th time, was founded by Friedebert Tuglas in 1971 and is the longest-running literary award in Estonia. 110 Estonian short stories have received the prestigious recognition. The prize is awarded by the Estonian Writers’ Union in cooperation with the Estonian Academy of Sciences Under and Tuglas Literature Centre and is funded by the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
