Ulrike Plath ponders the environment through history, art, and theology in the TV programme Plekktrumm

The research group for the project “The Estonian environmental movement in the 20th century: ideology, discourses, practices”, directed by Ulrike Plath, includes Elle-Mari Talivee and Jaan Undusk from the Literature Centre. On the photo, the threesome is at the 2019 spring working bee at the Literature Centre museum making nesting boxes for birds.
Recently a group of scholars began conducting research on the environmental movement in Estonia. How can disciplines such as history, art studies and theology help us understand the debates on the environment here, which are often very emotional? On 2 March 2020, the featured guest on the “Plekktrumm” programme was environmental historian Ulrike Plath, senior researcher at the Under and Tuglas Literature Centre and professor at Tallinn University. The programme host was Joonas Hellerma.
